Proms, Balls, & Cotillions.. Oh my!

'Tis the season.. for Junior Proms and Senior Balls!

It has been so busy here at the shop; we've been getting everyone ready for the big dance! Or, for some of you - many dances! It really is a lot of fun to work with our clients who are going to their prom or ball, especially when they bring in their dress to help pick the perfect wrist corsage. One of our girls did that this past weekend, and it was such a blast to help her craft a unique and custom wrist corsage: I'm positive that she's going to have such an amazing evening!

That being said, there's a lot of new things in the wonderful world of prom flowers; things that weren't widely available ten years ago. With different types of bracelets, ranging from freshwater pearl styles to ones that are entirely covered in crystals, there's honestly something for every look! Tulle with sparkles, tulle without sparkles.. feathers with sparkles, feathers without sparkles! The options really are quite endless - if only it were this way when I was in high school! We girls sure do love our accessories, don't we?

Here's some pictures of our "prom bar" in the store, so you can get an idea of all the different things I've been talking about. If you or someone you know is in the market for a wrist corsage, boutonniere, flower crown or fun hair clip.. send 'em on over! And if any of you are getting married, and wanted to do any of our keepsake bracelets for your wrist corsages on order, just say the word; it can be made possible.

This is our "prom bar"!

Each dish has different types of bracelets that can be used for wrist corsages..

..with the ever popular sparkly bracelets!

Here's one of our wrist corsages that will be picked up today; I think it's
safe to say that the recipient is going to love it!

What do you think? Do you wish you could go to prom all over again?

Rehearsal Dinner

Wedding season is here, everyone! Well, it's been here for a few weeks now, but with the blooming of trees, flowers, and shrubs, it just feels more like spring! I'm sure many of you can agree, that with the earth coming alive, you come alive along with it.. :)

Now that it's officially spring, with summer just around the corner, many brides are getting ready to walk down the aisle. All of the preparation is coming together, each detail is stacked on top of the other, all to form the magical day that you say "I do." So much thought and emphasis is placed on the dress you wear for your wedding day, but what about rehearsal dinner?! It's surely an excellent opportunity to wear a lovely white dress, romper, or otherwise, and I've found some options that would be not only tasteful and sophisticated, but comfortable, too! These pieces are also great for your honeymoon, or even just a nice dinner date with your new husband during the warmer months.

Click on the image below to view the widget of different looks that would be great options for a rehearsal dinner! There's even quite a few of these that are on sale!

Down the aisle - a different step

While searching for a lost photo (which I never found) I came across an "inspiration" folder of aisle treatments. So take a step of fantasy - see if any of these spark your imagination. If you are planning a wedding, stop in and brainstorm with Kim.

Giverny Inspired Wedding in Glorious Skaneateles

Sweet smiles and sunny skies were in abundance for the wedding of Gloria and Corey.

Set in the splendid gardens of The Mirbeau Inn and Spa and photographed by Leo Timoshuk, it was a complete win-win event. The color theme of soft pink and ivory with pearl accents was beautifully executed in summery florals.

The perfect day began with Friends and a make up session by Holly at A-List Artistry. Gloria wore an amazing pearl necklace and an equally lovely gown.

July 4th Inspiration

Stars and Stripes Burlap Wreath    http://confessionsofaplateaddict.blogspot.com/

 Inspiration  [in-spuh-rey-shuh n]
1.  something inspired, as an idea.
2. a result of inspired activity.
3. a thing or person that inspires.

Even creative people need a spark now and again. Ideas can come from anywhere and everywhere, I was inspired by this burlap wreath. found on Confessions of a Plate Addict. There are many other clever ideas and lots of DIY projects to make this your best Independence Day ever.
Now that the front door is appropriately adorned, greet your arriving guests with lemonade infused with cool cubes of blueberries and pomegranate seeds. I would love to hear any ideas for recreating the long shaped cubes...that has me stumped at the moment.

She rode in on a horse!

Getting married in Syracuse NY with a Western flair!
Cassandra and Jim will settle in Utah so it just seemed natural that their event would reflect that part of their life.
Even we were surprised that the Bride rode in on a horse. Cassandra was in perfect control of her mount and all the rest of the well thought out details of the themed wedding. The location was the beautiful rolling hills of Central New York, which happened to be in the family's back yard.

The Father of the Bride was either signaling the start of the processional or providing  a motivational moment for the  Groom. All in fun of course!
The maids carried handtied bouquets of thistle, sunflowers, scabiosa pods and coral godetia with burlap ribbon trim.

The ranch style arch was constructed just for the ceremony. How perfect is the lush cornfield in the background. The Groomsmen wore dark blue levi's and a black sport coat.
Do you love the Groom's white hat?

Black Shepard Hooks, hung with mason jars, lined the aisle. Wispy grasses, sunflowers and rustic burlap ribbon  were arranged  to reinforce the western theme.

The Bride carried a nosegay of Eskimo roses, white hydrangea, curly willow and scabiosa pods including embellishments of pheasant feathers. The handle was ivory burlap and a tiny touch of rhinestone bling. The Groom had a matching boutonniere.

Oh my gosh, I love that smile. Cassandra and Jim, you created a wonderful event. Thanks for letting us be a part of the happy day.
