June Brides and Maids

This was a popular weekend for matrimony. The Design room was a flurry - flowers everywhere! But Marty and I found a minute to snap a few photos. However, the pouring rain conflicted with the Friday evening wedding delivery schedule so only the Saturday bouquets are posted. We hope the sun returns to Thorton Park and the Mills Rose Garden. Fingers crossed!

Swimming in Pink

Pink ranuculas simply arranged in a humble vase.

I'm in a pink mood. Early summer inspires me to crave all things pink. On my morning garden walk I discovered that my Pink Empress peonies were in bloom. I couldn't resist sticking my nose in the puffy pink blossom. Ymmmmm Heavenly. I wanted to pick some. But it was late and the Shop had a cooler full of prom corsages and weddings waiting. Florists are always busy in early June.

Flowery Slippers

This is "thinking outside the box". They tug at my inner Fairy Princess and I think they are quite magical. Sure they are completely impractical but who cares. They make me happy when I look at them. And I think they would be charming for a Junior Bridesmaid.

They would be surprisingly easy to make. A slip on type of shoe or slipper, a tube of Oasis Floral adhesive and an abundance of tiny flowers, berries and snippets of moss.

Don't cheat and use fake flowers - the magic will disappear.

Beautiful Flowers for Fayetteville

Where did April go!!! It was a blur of snow and rain, torrential rain and snow. Syracuse has some crummy weather but we sure appreciate a sunny day when we get one...and one is usually all we get.

The design room was having a brief moment of calm after Easter and a very busy Secretary's Day.
A bouquet that Chick was making caught my eye. And, I'm sharing it with you before the Driver whisks it away to Fayetteville.

May Day is Sunday then comes Cinco de Mayo.

Perhaps we'll get some sunshine.

Spring is coming!

Will the snow ever stop and what will be underneath when it melts?

Daffodils!!!

It is Daffodil season at the Whistlestop. Last week, when the snow melted, the daffodils were peeking through the mulch. Reliable and faithful - like the returning Robins. The season will not last long.

Stop in or call for a fresh bouquet at $24.95.

Lucky Shamrocks

I like to have something in my house for each holiday. But I've never found a "natural" St Patrick's Day item...I don't want a leprechaun or anything corny. I always bring home a live Oxalis plant. But, unless it is by the kitchen sink, I'll forget to water it. This little silk shamrock plant is perfect for a coffee table or the corner of my desk.

For $12.95 you can't go wrong

Through the Garden Gate

I was asked to create a Flowering Garden with a gate. I just happened to have a miniature picket fence that I could cut in half. But a gate needs a reason for being so I made a pebble path. The path was lined with tiny violets which meanders and ends in a patch of miniature daffodils.

Our customer loved it and I had lots of fun making it. Perfect.
