Fanciful Fall Wedding - The Head Table

Do you have a large wedding party?
Take advantage of your venue's best panorama and use it to make a bold statement.

Traditions At The Link has a prominent fireplace which creates an opportunity for a dramatic head table. This Bride was no shrinking violet - swooshes of fabric and ribbon embellished with bold cascades of flowers really stand out.

But even a more demure color palette can be effective too.

Red gerbera, burgundy cymbidiums, coral roses, orange snapdragons, hypericum berries and seeded eucalyptus.

Grand Entrance - Wedding Aisles

The clever and lovely Kate of Lovewell Celebration Design blogged about creative ideas for the wedding aisle. If you have never read her blog, please check it out. www.lovewellpost.com  I smiled at some of her favorites as they had caught my eye as well.
So that got me thinking about aisles that The Whistlestop had done. Unfortunately, my PC is riding around in the back of my tech guy's car...something about a graphic accelerator, which means that I can't access my photo archives. But I was able to find a few on my laptop.

One Day in May

Alex and Steve - May 2012 -  I was enamored with this bouquet. The varieties of foliage added texture and contrast. The shape wasn't roundie round and the peonies and roses just shout spring.

Beautiful maids, great smiles and I just loved Alex's dress and hair. She did a wonderful job coordinating all the details to stay true to her wedding theme.

Singing the Blues

Today I'm singing the praises of the color blue. I try not to have a favorite but truly, I gravitate to blues and all its happy companion colors. Blue and gold, blue and coral, blue and brown, not to mention the classic blue and white.
A pretty homage to blue from The Whistlestop showroom. Thank you to Tom for the inspiration. www.tomharmonphotography.com

Blue at the Zoo

We have had a wonderful June - so many happy Brides and Grooms celebrating with their families on five beautiful sunny Fridays and Saturdays.

Keech Photography shared some images from Erin and David's nuptials. www.keechphotography.com
I personally loved Erin's dress and thought she was such a lovely bride. The event was at the Rosamund Gifford Zoo.

Yellow is Hot!

Grey skies turned bright for Colby and Michael. The Bride choose a palette of yellow, white and silver with orange accents. Colby kept it simple which played beautifully with the gown and short maid's dresses. Being loyal 'Cuse fans, the Bride and Groom exhibited a sense of humor while expanding the orange theme.

The Bride's bouquet of white gerbera and Billy Balls. (That's Crispedia to florists.)

Hand tied brides maid bouquets of yellow and white gerbera with crispedia.

I urge you to go to The Lovewell Post to see more of this wedding and you will understand why I mentioned Colby and Michael's sense of humor.

Natural and Organic Wedding

This wedding was all about earthy, natural and textural elements. The Bridal bouquet was composed of velvety white Matthiola with its ruffly plumb clustered blossoms. Spires of Ornithogalum whose delicate white daisy like flowers open at the base and extend into tight spikes that give the design added depth. Succulents are used like an open rose but the leaves are thick and waxy which is the opposite of the green Dianthus with its moss like quality. I'm amazed that this fluffy cluster is a member of the carnation family! Tiny orbs of  grape vine are  repeated in the ball shaped green pompons. The finishing touch - a wonderful handle of wool roping accented with a rosette of frayed cotton duck with an embroidered center with french knots of twine and pearls.
A Bridesmaid bouquet
I love the texture and color of the succulents with the twiggy grapevine.

I hope the photographer gets a better shot of the boutonniere. I wrapped a tiny bundle of twigs with wool, twine and tiny leafed angel vine, then attached matthiola and ball pompons.
